Symptoms
A popping sensation at injury, swelling within hours, difficulty continuing play, and later a feeling of the knee slipping or giving way on turning.
Treatment
Bracing and strengthening for partial tears or low-demand patients; arthroscopic ACL reconstruction for complete tears with instability, followed by a 6-9 month rehabilitation programme.
